I can see the light!
With about 5 days until my final presentation of my M.S. thesis project, I am in serious work-mode... which means that I will be pulling a few all-nighters and pushing computers to their limit. As with every other studio course I've ever taken, the last 2 weeks (and especially the last week) is a rush to the finish line. I am currently playing with my lighting for my final interior renderings for use in that final presentation. Those renderings will be the final 3-dimensional drawings I need, and then it's off to 2D construction documents. Of course those are all due on the same day, which this time is actually great! I like the fact that next Thursday I will be completely done with college (except for walking a graduation)!
I am confident that I will finish on time but these next 5 days will be crazy. Luckily I have a good network of friends that are supporting me during this time. I had to move out of my house yesterday so I will be "homeless" until I leave Tallahassee for good. That in itself is weird to me. I have lived in Tally for 6 years, or as I have phrased it before, "I'm in 18th grade summer school." At the camp I work at in North Carolina, that line is a hit with the high school students.
I am very thankful for my time at FSU and the interior design department for the knowledge they have passed down and the support that the faculty has given. I will forever be a 'Nole and proud to be. Go Noles!
In a few weeks, I will be uploading my renderings for my thesis project onto this website under 'Interiors' and 'Furniture'. So, stay tuned! Also, stay tuned for how my portfolio grows once I start working full-time at Wolk Design Associates (wolkdesign.com).

New Renders & New Opportunities
With 20 days left until I present my Master's Thesis project, I am in the thick of rendering the 17 pieces of furniture I have designed and their gallery space. I am also completing the set of construction documents for the whole shebang. One item that is off my to-do list now though, is employment.
I have accepted a position as a product designer at Michael Wolk Design Associates in Miami, Florida. I am very excited to begin working even if I literally only have 1 day between graduation and my first day of work. There are also many other freelance opportunities that have presented themselves and may be very interesting. More info to come on those as they unfold. This presence of forward momentum and exciting change is making my short time at school seem even shorter. Time is flying by and I can't help but to be excited and nostalgic. FSU has been the best place for me to grow and learn. My department and friends have been a huge support and I am looking forward to where these experiences will take my life and career.
The above photo shows a rendering of a return bookshelf for a home office. The Neon rendering plug-in for Rhino has been a huge asset to me to produce these high quality renderings. I am looking forward to building my skills with this free tool.

1st Blog, 1st Post. The Countdown to Graduation Begins.
In an attempt to keep my website as current as possible, I will be endeavoring to post blog entries as often as I can. The text you will read read below is where I am at currently in my design life. These posts might also become a place where I share some insights into who I am outside of design, but let's not jump that far yet.
With 72 days left until I cross the FSU graduation stage again, I have just over 2 months to finish my Master's Thesis. This thesis involves the custom design of 17 pieces of furniture and the art-gallery-like exhibition environment meant to sell the designs. Things are ramping up as finalize my interior and furniture design decisions. The image in this post is one of the test renderings I am playing with for final marketing materials of "The Phive Collection." Stay tuned as more images will be uploaded as I finish my degree.
